Dental Implants
A titanium root placed in the jawbone to carry a single crown, a bridge or a full arch.
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. A titanium post is placed into the jawbone, left to integrate with the bone, and then restored with a crown, bridge or denture.
Treatment normally runs across two visits. In the first, the implant is placed — this is done under local anaesthesia and takes around thirty to sixty minutes per implant. The bone then needs three to six months to fuse with the post. In the second visit the permanent restoration is fitted.
Where bone volume is insufficient, sinus lifting or bone augmentation may be carried out at the same appointment as placement. Your surgeon will tell you whether this applies after reviewing your CT scan.
